Opening the Heart: The Next Step in Evolution

Integral yoga philosophy puts the evolution of consciousness at the center of human life, occurring both within this lifetime and across lifetimes. The evolutionary element within us is the evolving soul, a fount of light, unerring guidance, and source of intrinsic love, joy and peace. In Vedanta, Sufism, Christianity and other traditions, it is located behind the heart or heart chakra. To awaken this inner source of bliss and love demands we open not only the inner, spiritual heart but our outer, surface heart of ordinary emotion, which is the realm of depth psychotherapy.
Opening the heart to an increasingly soul-infused living is humanity’s next step in evolution, inevitable despite the many challenges we now face. This talk explores best practices to open the heart and awaken our inmost being so its light may illumine our daily lives, its love radiate into our relationships, and its joy sustain us in the dark times. How to live with an open yet discerning heart?
